Raising the Roof for Rebecca & Renel
Rebecca (Larkin) has a new partner in her volunteer work in Haiti!! Many of you know Rebecca is now married. In Haitian culture the house must be finished before the wedding. Renel has been working on his house for the last two years and has it pretty much finished now and are enjoying the new house. However, Renel and Rebecca are now very busy with facing the distaster clean up and finding ways of getting provisions to the orhpanage and the surrounding area of Grand Goave. Please see her blogs for recent updates.
Many have contributed to Rebecca's and we are very thankful for that. If you wish to further contribute contact Heart to Heart (see web site address below) or the Larkins at (larkinn@shaw.ca) or call 604-288-2292.

Dear Folks at PCC,
Today I listened to "PCC online" & as I listened to Brian preach I felt as if I was back at home, attending church with you guys. It was an odd moment when the sermon was finished & I realized that I was in Haiti... Sweaty & hungry... It's very muggy today & bulgar wasn't so appetizing this morning :)
Brain's sermon was his testimony (recorded back in November) and it has made me think about my own journey. It is shocking to me that God has brought me here. If you were to ask me 5 years ago what I thought about Haiti I would have asked you where Haiti was!! Now I am living here & my heart breaks for the kids who are suffering so much. Brian said that 80% of the people who receive Christ receive Him before they are 18years old...that statistic might not be accurate for Haiti but it makes me think of the kids here at H2H and how blessed they are to be learning about God & how crucial this time in their life is. If the 100 kids that live here grow up to serve Jesus what a difference they will make for Haiti! That is my prayer for them.
Since coming to Haiti I regularly struggle with knowing my "assignment" and finding my place. Why has God brought me here & what does He want me to do? There are so many things I'd like to change but I feel my hands are tied due to cultural barriers, resources & my own abilities. Though there are many mountains, the valleys are tough - I often feel inadequate to mentor the kids and sometimes my love for them doesn't feel like enough. On the flip side, I am also thankful for my insecurities as they are teaching me to rely on God & seek His leadership I find myself praying more & more for the ability to accept what I cannot change, courage to change what I can & the wisdom to know the difference. Please continue to pray for me.
