Why we Give and How we Give

We believe that our giving is part of our worship in that it gives us a public opportunity to join with others to partner with God and each other in what God is doing in the world.  We believe that what  we have comes from God as a gift.  Thus we are motivated to share from what we have to partner with God and each other.  In this way we participate in what God is accomplishing and as a way to provide resources to fill the needs of those who experience lack within our local church community and those who we may not know outside our community anywhere from Cloverdale to the Congo.

The Bible shapes the way we think about giving.  As it says, "You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don't give reluctantly or in response to pressure. God loves a person who gives cheerfully."  (2 Corinthians 9:7)

  • Sunday Offering Basket:   Every Sunday Service includes an opportunity to contribute.
  • Offering Envelopes:  The offering envelope provides an anonymous way for you to give once you receive a "giving number."  The envelopes can be deposited in the offering baskets during the service.  If you wish to begin or replenish your stack of envelopes you can do so by  connecting with Tracy Cudmore our Bookkeeper.  Click here to make your first step.
  • Electronic Fund Transfer:  This option provides a way to establish an automated means to transfer funds from their account to Pacific on an ongoing basis.  At anytime the amounts can be adjusted or discontinued. Click here to make your first step.
  • Online Giving: Every Sunday we have an opportunity to give but we have received more and more requests to provide an online giving alternative. We do so happily. We have partnered with a non-profit group Canada Helps to provide a very cost effective way for those who wish to use such a tool. (note: every transaction online will incur a 3% charge in contrast to 0% on Sundays.)  Click on the button to go to make your donations. All the information and instructions you need will be available for you there.

Help Fund

For many years PCC has administered a Help Fund to provide aid for personal and family emergencies and for organizations that make very good use of  funds to help others.

The fund also provides timely aid (not ongoing) to people needing immediate help in terms of financial stress because of circumstances like sickness, job loss and other unfortunate realities.  It has been an important part of the ministry of Pacific and it has served people in our midst and many we don't know.

We have opportunity to give to this fund in two ways.   You can designate funds directly through the offering envelope by marking on the fund line "Help Fund" and designating a portion of your giving.  Each month we also have a special "free will" offering gathered after communion.  These two means continue to be the primary ways to give to the fund.

We want to raise awareness of this fund and the ways you can participate.  If you would like to learn more about our Help Fund visit the Handbook page here for more including the Help Fund Request Form.

CMA Global Advance Fund (GAF)

Financing global missions is a major task for any mission-minded organization. Global Advance Fund (GAF) is the method used by The Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada. The bulk of this fund covers the expenses involved with sending missionaries and international workers overseas, including salaries and benefits, as well as the costs associated with ministry in various countries. The remainder is designated to strengthen the sending base, to train missionaries at Ambrose University College (formerly Alliance University College) and for various administrative needs including the National Ministry Centre.

Each of the more than 400 Alliance churches in Canada supports GAF through their giving. Individuals in those churches give faithfully to both the local church and to missions.  For More Information Click here.

CMA Canadian Ministries Fund (CMF)

The Canadian Ministries Fund supports the ministry carried out by the Christian Missionary Alliance. The majority of the fund (65%) is used by the District for District ministries such as church planting and leadership development. A significiant portion (20%) is used for national multicultural church planting and the support of the multicultural associations. The balance (15%) is used to support the leadership training ministries of Ambrose University College (formerly Alliance University College) and Institut Biblique VIE.  For more information click here.

Heart 2 Heart Haiti Fund

Since 2005 Pacific has partnered with Heart 2 Heart Canada and Haiti to support a church community in Grand Goave and Grand Savant.  We have particularly focused our efforts on helping to build a church in Grand Savant.   Rebecca Larkin, a member from Pacific, presently lives and serves at Heart to Heart.

Baby Bottle Drive--Pregnancy Options Centre

Each year between Mother's Day and Father's Day we collect funds for the Pregnancy Options Centre which seeks to help mothers navigate through the challenges of unplanned pregnancies.  These funds serve to support this ministry.  Heidi Champagne leads this initiative at Pacific.

Christmas Hamper Program

Since 2006 Pacific has been involved with the Cloverdale Christmas Hamper Program.  In 2009 over 200 homes received food hampers and gifts.  This fund provides financial resources to facilitate the program.

  • Your Giving Records:  If you have donated financially to Pacific Community Church, chances are you are part of our online community.   If you  request a password and enter your online community you can access your personal profile and find an up-to-date and private financial record of your giving.   From this profile you can update your personal and family information, check out the groups you belong to at Pacific, and a whole host of other helpful things.
  • Tax Receipts:  We mail out our tax receipts late January and early February.  Please contact Tracy Cudmore our bookkeeper here if you have any questions about your giving.

Designated Giving Policy

This policy has been adopted by the Board of Elders in order to establish a transparent and effective use of funds that live within the framework of our Charitable Organization and the Canadian Revenue Agency standards.  In general terms this policy means that we will receive donations only for the Funds we have established and that the Board of Elders ultimately will make the final decision when adjustments have to be made.

"Spending of funds is confined to board approved programs and projects. Each restricted contribution designated towards a board approved program or project will be used as designated with the understanding that when the need for such a program or project has been met, or cannot be completed for any reason determined by the board, the remaining restricted contributions designated for such program or project will be used where needed most, as determined by the board."
