About MOMs
Imagine a place where mothers are able to connect with other mothers; new friendships; helpful advice; laughter; a break! MOMS has become a great opportunity for many mothers (at any stage) who love to see families, marriages and children thrive.
Here are the four things that happen...
1) It provides a network that encourages and equips moms to be the best mothers they can be.
2) It provides mothers the opportunity for personal growth through developing their skills and talents.
3) It provides a safe place for women to share their struggles and concerns related to raising a family.
4) It provides mature women the opportunity to mentor younger mothers.
One of the Mentors--Myrna
M.O.M.S. stands for moms mentoring moms and I have the privilege of being one of the new mentoring moms this year.
The church is a busy place on Wednesday morning as the moms are registering their kids for childcare and tables and chairs are being set up and the moms and most children are excited to be there. This is a time for the moms to not only get a break but to chat with moms in the same situation as they are and hopefully get some wisdom and guidance from some of us who have been there before them.
In the coffee talk elective that I am involved in the moms are sharing the highs and lows of their weeks and we are getting to know each better. We then talk about a topic that pertains to them such as family traditions (Thanksgiving, Christmas and ordinary days). My co-leader Marilee Congo took the girls through kitchen and wardrobe organization.
Marilee and I love getting to know these younger moms, cuddling with their babies and sharing life with them. It is a joy.
