Membership

Overview

Our goal at Pacific Community Church is to introduce, connect and involve every person to the life-giving opportunities of God’s awesome power and resources.  We are an active Christian community committed to helping people grow with God and each other, but we also actively partner with God and each other to make a real difference in the world.

We encourage membership for a few reasons:

  • We believe the concept is biblical.  In the Bible we clearly find that Christians identified themselves with a specific local body and were challenged to become devoted participants.
  • Formal membership is valuable to leaders of the church as they seek to fulfill their God-given task of leadership.
  • Experience shows that membership benefits the individual.  It is an important step that moves each of us out of the vague clouds of our good intentions and into the clear light of committed participation.

Perhaps you are already active and you desire to formalize your relationship with the members of Pacific.  Perhaps you are intrigued by the life you see and wish to investigate.  Our goal is to make your journey simple and clear so that you might have a good understanding of who we are, what we are doing and where we are headed.  As a result you will be able to make a personal decision that is meaningful and purposeful.

If you are transferring from another church, we ask that you take the time to travel through the steps of membership at PCC.

Benefits

  • Identifies you as a genuine believer – Ephesians 2:19; Romans 12:5
  • Provides you a spiritual family of support and encouragement in your walk with Christ – Galatians 1-2; Hebrews 10:24-25

Privileges

  • The right to influence key decisions of the church.  Most importantly, the selection of Elder candidates and their affirmation.
  • Attendance to “member only” meetings

All leadership positions in the church require committed membership.

Our aim as followers of Jesus is to cultivate a Christian community where every individual will flourish, find life and help others grow.  Being a member of a church community is a big part of what it means to be an active Christian.

You are joined by others who share the same commitment, same causes and same concerns.  In fact, the word “membership” was originally coined by the Bible instructing all who were being transformed by the power of Jesus Christ to be members of His body (the church) of which Jesus Christ is the head."     1 Cor. 12:12
