But that is just a list. We want to help you make connections to groups or to form a group that can make connections. You can get a start from a few different starting points.
- You could call one of the small group leaders on the list.
- You could call me, Pastor Jim.
- You could attend a Small Group Scrum
- You could shake a few hands on Sunday and ask "Would you like to be in a small group?" Give me a shout...I'll get you going....
What is a Small Group Scrum?
Good question: Think of it like an opportunity to kick around the idea of becoming part of a small group life where a number of people gather intentionally to be spiritually active. Some things we can do solo. Life is not great when we are solo--nor is church.
We don't think small groups all need to look the same. They come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. At its heart a small group, in my thinking (Pastor Jim's), is that it is a place where people gather to engage in transformational conversation and friendship. Fundamentally that is because we are in fellowship with a transforming God who has one thing on his mind--a transformed world where he reigns, people find new life and creation flourishes. In this way, Christian small groups are really "mini" churches of people who are wholehearted about God, each other the world.
So, if you can get excited about that, brave to encounter others, and convicted to be shaped by God's purposes, then maybe you should think of having a scrum. I will meet with and your buddies (colleagues, friends, like-minded people) to have a small group scrum where we can wrestle out the direction God is taking you in terms of a small group.
