Did you know that in our Children's Ministry the Kindergarten to Grade 4 and Grade 5/6 classes use curriculum called 252 Basics? 252 Basics believe that elementary-age kids are in a constant state of discovery. Think about all the different things they are trying for the first time and what they’re learning every day, even how to make (and keep) friends.
They ask - how can we tap into the way kids are naturally wired to discover‚ so they can begin to experience for themselves who God is, how He sees them and how much He loves them? How can we show them God’s big story and help them discover the active part they can play in this life-long adventure, to be more like Him?
252 BASICS curriculum and resources PROVOKE DISCOVERY, inviting kids to live out their new understanding of how to grow in relationship with God and with others. Their strategy is to combine the critical influences of the church and home to incite wonder, provoke discover and fuel passion in the hearts of the next generation.
Pacific K-4 kids meet in large and small groups on Sundays. They get resources that are designed to help parents reinforce stories and virtues at home. Fridge Door Card: Parent’s notes to encourage parents to interact with and teach their children about faith and character. GodTime Card: Kids’ notes to help children establish a consistent devotional experience.
In addition to the curriculum, they also developed several other great resources for the home like Studio252.tv, is a website where parents and kids can connect with videos and other resources during the week. Check it out with your kids - it can help to enhance and connect what they're learning on Sundays!
You can also find through 252 Basics blogs for parents (Orange Parents) and even a Marriage blog that can link you to other resources.
