An Emergency Weather Shelter is happening at Pacific

November 1, 2015 Pacific Community Church partnered with Surrey OPTIONs to launch an Emergency Weather Shelter (EWS) in Cloverdale. Pacific is providing the space and willing volunteers. OPTIONS is providing the staffing, budgetary support, and all the training required for the volunteers. The partnership is an effective way to accomplish what has been a need in Cloverdale from year to year. It does get cold, wet, and windy. About eight or ten people have used the cold shelter when it was located in the north part of Cloverdale. The shelter operates during extreme weather conditions. Hours of operation are fixed hours from 11pm to 7am during the months of November, December, and January.

You can help. It is a life-saving ministry where you will help those in desperate circumstances. Volunteers are needed to set up and take down. They are not expected to stay the whole night.

OPTIONs will provide the 'core staff' needs and take care of all the monitoring. Capable Pacific volunteers are needed to 1) set-up the room before it opens at 11pm; 2) provide food for the morning (snack and light breakfast); 3) return the room back to order after 7am. We will also need someone to launder the blankets and pillows but that is a funded position at $20/hour.
