Hi Pacific 55+!

We are looking forward to having an amazing time together at the Britannia Shipyards. Please read below for key details for our upcoming event.

Britannia Shipyards Key Details

  • Tour is June 30th with a 10:00am start time; so plan to assemble no later than 9:50am.
  • Use the Britannia Shipyards civic address 5180 Westwater Drive, Richmond V7E 6S2 if trying to locate the Shipyard site in a Nav system (though that number doesn’t actually appear on any historic bldg).
  • There’s two parking lots. A paved one on the West side of the property @ Railway Ave (closest to the start of the tour); and a gravel lot on the East side of the Historic Site (closer to the end of the tour).
  • Muster point for the beginning of the tour will be the Seine Net Loft building marked on the attached map. If the weather should happen to be inclement it will be possible to muster “inside” before the tour starts.
  • This is a walking tour of the Bldgs and facilities. Wear appropriate clothing and shoes. Wooden floors in historic buildings can sometimes be uneven. If walking sticks are required for stability by all means bring them.
  • Tour cost is $10.00/head. If possible, please bring cash with you to cover the cost of the tour.
  • Make your own lunch arrangements for after the tour

For those of you who may not know, Britannia Shipyards "is an authentic representation of a once-thriving community of canneries, boat yards and residences. Many of the heritage buildings date back to the 1880s and tell the stories of the Chinese, European, Indigenous and Japanese workers through authentic recreations of living and working spaces." The Britannia Shipyards are located in Steveston, Richmond, BC.
