May 28, 2022 - Tunnel Bluffs, Lions Bay

We've got a great opportunity for you to connect through a group centered around community and God's glorious creation. This ministry will focus on connecting God's church with His creation through outdoor hikes: some a little easier, some a little tougher, some a lot tougher, but all showing off His magnificent handiwork.

All right, who's ready for another PCC church hike? Please be sure to SIGN UP!

This next one is a little tougher and longer than the first one to Jug Island, but it's also a little more amazing. Again, we will take in some great views, inhale some fresh air, and join in on some great conversations while we hike to Tunnel Bluffs in Lions Bay.

For those who are OK with carpooling, we can meet up in the PCC church parking lot (in Cloverdale) at 7:30 AM to depart together from there (masks might be required). Otherwise, meet us at the Tunnel Bluffs trailhead (50 Sunset Drive) in Lions Bay at 9:00AM. Note that there is a parking charge of about $12 or so at the trailhead. Otherwise, if the parking lot is full, or you would rather save money, you can park down the street at the Lions Bay Elementary school and walk up (takes about 10 minutes?).

We will meet at the parking lot (where the trailhead starts).
Google Maps directions to trailhead from PCC Church in Cloverdale:
Note: The hike is rated as "intermediate" with a fairly steady uphill climb on a road for 2 km, then fairly flat for a few more kilometers on a ridge. It does have a couple of log bridges to cross which might test one's balance. The total distance round-trip is 11.5 km and should take 4 hours in total. So we should be back to our vehicles by around 1pm. Open to all.
Requirements:
1. Warm clothing (pack an extra sweater if you can)
2. Decent hiking boots (to avoid twisted ankles)
3. Some sun protection, just in case
4. A water bottle or two
5. A mask for carpool travel might be required
6. A light snack or lunch
7. A camera or phone because the view is amazing.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to send a message.
