PCCU - TONIGHT!

Pacific Community Church
PCC's MidWeek Newsletter - September 28, 2022
National Day of Truth and Reconciliation

National Day of Truth and Reconciliation

 This Friday, September 30th, is the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. This is a very important day for the church to come alongside the Indigenous Community to show support for truth and for reconciliation.

Recognizing the importance of church leaders growing in their understanding of Indigenous and Christian relations, our staff has gone through training on “The Seven Commitments for Conversation and Action” among evangelical fellowship churches (EFC) affiliates.

We will make every effort to prioritise our commitment to embodying Jesus to everyone by intentionally pursuing more opportunities to educate ourselves on the appropriate ways God is calling us to represent Him to Indigenous peoples.

Please know that PCC will be closed on Friday as we stand in solidarity with our First Nations Communities.

 Thank you to everyone who prayed for us while we were at camp! God certainly met with us, He moved powerfully, and His presence was felt throughout our sessions. Many students testified that God spoke to them personally and their faith was strengthened and deepened. Of course, we had lots of fun as well and friends became like family. Praise the Lord!

Happening Tonight!

September 28th | Jon ImBeau | "Tell Them, I Am Sent You."
(7PM - 9PM at Pacific Community Church)

How the Israelites learned who Yahweh is within the context of A.N.E. religions.
In Exodus 3:14, the Hebrews learn that the God of their ancestors is named Yahweh. They have already learned about God, even before this ‘burning bush moment’, and they learn much more in the centuries following. At this time Israel’s journey with Yahweh has been within a context of very well-established and influential Ancient Near Eastern religions. At times, the followers of these faiths ruled over the Israelites and their religious culture influenced them greatly. Often the Israelites adopted or syncretized with these other religions, but the scriptures show us how Yahweh stands separate and above. In this seminar, we will look at the various religions of the A.N.E. and see how Yahweh showed his people that he is not like the gods of the world. He is who He is. He is Yahweh!

RIGHTNOW MEDIA

RIGHTNOW MEDIA

If someone asked you to explain the gospel, what would you say? What is the good news of the Christian faith? Writing to the Galatians, Paul made it clear how easily we can be tempted to turn toward fraudulent gospels, especially those that teach we can earn God’s love through our works. Though they may have the appearance of truth, they are lifeless and leave us empty in the end.

In this Book of the Bible series, Kyle Idleman dives into the book of Galatians, one that contains some of the clearest explanations of the gospel in the New Testament. Through biblical study and engaging lessons, Kyle shows that true freedom is found in surrender, not self-dependence. Because our gospel is not one based on our works, but faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ.

PCC U with Mike Richardson

PCC U with Mike Richardson

October | Mike Richardson | Crafting A Culture of Worship within the Context of Family
(Date & Time TBD)

Recognizing that biblical worship is a lifestyle rather than an event, this PCCU course is a workshop that involves 3 sessions over the next 9 months.

Dr. Mike Richardson and his wife, Kathy, will be the learning facilitators and Mike’s dissertation ,“Training Christian Parents as Family Worship Leaders,” will provide the foundation for this collaborative learning experience. The intent of this opportunity is to empower parents as they lead their children/grandchildren in experiencing worship as the fundamental reality of doing life together as a family of Christ-followers. Couples are required to both participate and single parents are also welcome. Attendance will be limited.

Gospel = Life

Gospel = Life

 This fall we have started a new preaching series for our Sunday morning worship services called Gospel = Life. We believe that simple phrase reflects our third value, embodying the gospel, and reminds us each week to live out the good news, to be a living embodiment, a visible sign of the anointed one.

Our teaching will focus on the book of Galatians as we look to the scriptures for teaching about what it means to be the church. The message of Galatians is an exhortation to be that new life in Christ, no matter what may come, and so I believe it is the perfect scripture for us to open our hearts to for such a time as this. These are such turbulent times now and it is in times like this that the truth of the gospel rings out so pure, that Jesus brought new life by believing in him.
