Summer Series

Summer Series

Upon this Rock: Why we need the church

The church is described in the New Testament as the body of Christ. This body functions in many ways but is not defined in terms of its functions. Rather, the body is defined by its relationship to the Lord and is a continuation of the Lord’s presence in this world. The world needs the church because it is a divine creation that is meant to carry out the will of the Lord. In the same way, God’s followers need the church because God’s will is also being carried out in them. It is this latter purpose that will be the focus of our summer series. We will be looking at the ways in which God’s will is being carried out in his people when they come together as Pacific Community Church.

We need the church because God’s will is being carried out in us when we serve, worship, edify, evangelize, instruct and learn. This summer our preaching will focus on each of these functions of the church in order to understand why we do these things and why we need them in order to be healthy followers of Jesus.

Mt. Currie Outreach

Mt. Currie Outreach

Tim Higginbotham of NAIM (North American Indigineous Ministry), one of our missional partners, will be leading the Red Soul Rising youth camp. PCC's small but mighty outreach team this year consists of Sarah and Stefan Mast with their two children, Lukka and Anikka as well as Kathleen MacDonald and a friend, who will be heading to Mt. Currie from July 13th - 15th!

Tim is requesting prayer for youth to come out and learn about the Gospel and the reality of Christ. This year, they will have a Native Christian elder and a young woman share their testimonies and also have the faithful support of a church out of Crystal Lake, Illinois who is bringing a group of 20 youth volunteers and leaders up, as well as local church support. There are a lot of moving parts.

Please be in prayer as the team prepares to go, for safety as they travel and that relationships will be built and deepened through their time serving with the Mt. Currie Indigineous leaders and fellow volunteers!

Brandon Wallace Memorial Bursary

The Brandon Wallace Memorial Bursary is a $1000 cash award to be given to a student intending or who is already enrolled in post-secondary education at a University, College, Bible College, Seminary or Vocational School. The bursary amount has been increased to reflect the rising cost of education and the expenses associated with it.

Brandon was a cherished member of Pacific who died tragically one morning (Feb 1, 2006) while cycling to school.  This bursary was set up in his memory.

The bursary is offered to inspire and encourage those who are shaped by a contagious desire to serve and follow Christ all the days of their life.

To apply, download the Bursary Application below and submit by August 31, 2023; 5:00 pm to Tracy Cudmore.  Tracy is available to answer any questions you may have regarding the process.
