Reminder to Pray - Week 1

Reminder to Pray

Week 1

This December, we're setting aside the month to pray with purpose. Everyday, we'll lift up a specific person from a family member to our hairdresser to our supervisor to our favourite coffee shop's barista, asking God to soften hearts, open doors, and draw people to Himself.

As we pray for the people on the calendar, here are some suggestions of ways to pray for them:

  1.  Pray for God to convict of sin and draw people to himself (Acts 2:37-38; John 6:44) It is only through the knowledge of one’s sinful state and subsequent repentance that a person turns to Jesus and is saved. Jesus said that the only way people will come to him is if God draws them.
  2. Pray for the cross to be unveiled (2 Corinthians 3:16-17) False religions and deceptive ideologies have blinded people to the truth of the Gospel. Pray that the veil on minds and spirits will be taken away, that lies will be exposed, and people will see and understand the mystery of the cross.
  3. Pray for bold proclamation (Colossians 4:2-5) Pray for PCC, and that each of us would proclaim the message of the Gospel clearly, making the most of every opportunity God places before us.
  4. Pray for good soil (Matthew 13:3-8) Pray that hearts would be good soil, ready to hear the Gospel and respond. Pray that hard soil would be softened to become good soil.
  5. Pray that we will long for people’s salvation (Romans 10:1) Pray that we won’t become complacent and forget that people are lost without Jesus. May we be like the Apostle Paul who said that the longing of his heart was that his people might be saved.
  6. Pray that someone will share the gospel with them (Romans 10:13-14) Ask God to give you (and other believers) opportunities to share the gospel with the people you’re praying for. Ask God to let you share the Gospel with someone this week.
  7. Ask the Holy Spirit to pray through you (Romans 8:26-27) Sometimes we don’t even know how to pray for the lost people in our lives. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you as you pray. When you run out of words, ask the Spirit to pray for them because he will pray exactly what they need in harmony with God’s will.

When you pray for the people on your calendar, pray also for our international workers and the unreached people groups among whom they are working. Some who have visited PCC this year are:

  • Chris & Angela in Mexico
  • Paul & Janelle in North Africa
  • Other IWs you know
