Dear Alliance workers and churches,

It is with great sadness that we bring to your attention a fatal plane crash that happened on July 28, 2023, near Kananaskis Village, Alberta that has had a significant impact on our Alliance family. All six passengers perished; they each had deep connections with their local Alliance churches and ministries. Five of the men attended Harvest Hills Alliance, and one attended Rockpointe Church.

Our deepest condolences to the grieving families and congregations who have been deeply impacted by this tragic loss.
 
The families, initially, asked for privacy as they grieved, however, we wanted to ask you, as official workers and churches, to pray for these two church communities, praying especially the families who have been affected.  Thank you for respecting their privacy and praying for them.

The Brandon Wallace Memorial Bursary is a $1000 cash award to be given to a student intending or who is already enrolled in post-secondary education at a University, College, Bible College, Seminary or Vocational School. The bursary amount has been increased to reflect the rising cost of education and the expenses associated with it.

On Sunday, August 13th, our morning worship service will look a little different and will not be livestreamed! We will be continuing in our series on Why we Need the Church by looking at the answer - “because churches are communities of prayer!”

Since we are focusing on prayer we have created a service that will include time to pray together. Our sanctuary will be set up with round tables for us all to sit at when we arrive. We will begin the service with worship in singing as usual. After singing we will hear a message that I recorded this week on prayer (I am on holiday now) and will have 3 opportunities to pray with others at our table during the sermon time. We will partake in the Lords supper and sing a song of celebration. My prayer is that this service will be a great blessing for you all as you press in on intimacy with the Lord, love for one another and impact for the Lord in our world.

The church is described in the New Testament as the body of Christ. This body functions in many ways but is not defined in terms of its functions. Rather, the body is defined by its relationship to the Lord and is a continuation of the Lord’s presence in this world. The world needs the church because it is a divine creation that is meant to carry out the will of the Lord. In the same way, God’s followers need the church because God’s will is also being carried out in them. It is this latter purpose that will be the focus of our summer series. 

Here at Pacific we are committed to providing a way for every person in our church to connect with others through Growth Groups.

We have five growth groups that will be reconvening in the fall. For more info click on the link below and check out the variety of groups HERE.  Over the summer prayerfully consider which group may be a fit for you!

The public reading of scripture during our Worship Service is a vital part of our liturgy at Pacific. We are actively looking for people that would like to do the public reading of Scripture on Sunday mornings during the service!
