Cloverdale Christmas Hamper Program

Pacific Community Church
PCC's MidWeek Newsletter - November 29, 2023
Cloverdale Christmas Hamper Program

Cloverdale Christmas Hamper Program

The Cloverdale Christmas Hamper Program will be distributing approximately 800 hampers to families, individuals and seniors in our community on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023 from 9:30AM-2:30PM, and distribution will happen at the Shannon Hall and Alice McKay building at the Cloverdale fairgrounds (6050 176 St. Surrey). How can you help?!

CONTRIBUTE TO A HAMPER BOX
The hamper boxes go a long way in supporting vulnerable and low-resourced people in our community and show that they are cared-about, especially during this Christmas season. Hampers include non-perishable food, toiletries, and gifts. A "Free Store"  will also take place on Hamper Day, December 16th, where donations such as household goods, gently-used clothing, etc. will be needed. There are two boxes in the sanctuary and one in the foyer to place any donations that you may have. For more information on what type of items are needed and accepted by the program or other ways to give, please click here.

For specific needs Click on the READ MORE link below!!

VOLUNTEER ON HAMPER DAY
We are looking for volunteer greeters/hosts to help out on Hamper Day! This is a specific role that we need to help run and facilitate hamper distribution on December 16, 2023. We anticipate serving about 800 families, so we are looking to recruit about 100-200 willing people from area churches.

Greeters/Hosts welcome families after they check in and help them navigate where to go throughout the buildings. We would also like to have greeters/hosts offer to pray with families who would like to prayed-for. This role will run in two shifts: 8:30AM-11:30AM and 10:30AM-2:00PM. You are welcome to sign up for one or both shifts. Individuals can sign up HERE!

Soup & Buns Sunday!

Sunday, January 28th

As we continue to create space for community life, and in order to get to know each other deeper, we invite you to join us for our SOUP & BUN SUNDAY, January 28th after the serivce!

Think about how you can help as we seek a few people who will team up to cook a homemade soup (or two) in our kitchen. Like a family we set up and take down together, consider helping before and after the service to make the work lighter. Dessert would be great...maybe you could bring some cookies or squares!

Please respond HERE to let us know how you would like to volunteer as we make this event a success together!

Word Made Flesh

This advent season, we will be intentionally reflecting on the wonderful truth that “The Word Became Flesh.” John 1:14 is one of the most important verses in the Bible. It reads, “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”

The eternal Word, who is Jesus, willingly left the heavenly realm and took on human flesh to tabernacle (dwell) among us. In so doing, Jesus revealed His radiant and transcendent glory to us. The Word humbled Himself by taking on the form of His creation to redeem us from our sinful brokenness and to reconcile us to God through Himself. This glorious truth is worthy of our worship, praise, and wonder.

With this in mind, we invite you to join us each Sunday during Advent (starting December 3rd) as we fix our minds, hearts, spirits, and bodies to consider the love, peace, joy, and hope that is offered to us through the “Word Made Flesh.”

Love – December 3
Peace - December 10
Joy - December 17
Hope - December 24

Christmas Eve - December 24th / 4 PM
We will be Livestreaming our Christmas Eve service which will be accessible after the service.

RIGHTNOW MEDIA

God Gives His best gifts to us in unexpected ways. The Christmas season is a reminder of the gift that God gives to us through his son Jesus. The prophet Micah gives Israel hope while they are under the threat of violence and oppression, sharing God’s promise that from the insignificant and inconsequential town of Bethlehem will come the world’s greatest blessing, who is Christ the Lord. When the Messiah, the Lord Jesus, comes, his greatness will span the entire world. The unexpected is what God does best.

Four ways to embrace the hope of Advent this Christmas:
Session One: The Hope
Session Two: The Promise
Session Three: The Commitment
Session Four: The Gift

Join the Hospitality Team!

Join the Hospitality Team!

Hospitality occurs in significant ways at PCC. The Hospitality Ministry includes our communion servers, greeters and ushers, and those who offer various supports during our worship and other services.  These individuals are often the first contacts with those walking through our doors! Would you consider joining the Hospitality Team and greeting newcomers on Sunday mornings?

We also really need another 6 individuals to join our communion serving team (couples or singles) and 4 individuals to join our communion prep team! Please think about this and let us know if you might be interested.
