MISSIONAL MOMENT

MISSIONAL MOMENT

Pacific is a church that is passionate about missions and this week we want to highlight a partnership we have with the Hiebert Family - Pacific supports the Hieberts through giving and prayer.

Chris and Angela lead a team in Mexico City, Mexico! Their mission together is to glorify God by developing indigenous movements or reproducing churches among the least reach people groups in Mexico and beyond. Read their latest update below!

We have been in Mexico City just over 2 years now and even though one of those years has been living through a pandemic, we are so thankful for all that God has been doing here in our midst. A quick update is that on July 1, 2020, we took on a new role as Team Developers for Mexico. This has meant that we have had to leave our role as International Church planters to become Team Developers but remain an active part of the international community.

Despite our role change, the pandemic opened new doors to online opportunities in the International Community and we have run 2 Alpha online courses and Prayer Course 1 and 2 online in the past year. Each online group has been well attended and we have loved seeing how God has moved and drawn people closer to Himself through these online initiatives. In these groups, we have had people from outside of Mexico join us each time and so it has truly been an international experience!

As Team Developers, we have the joy and privilege of caring for our team and aligning with the heart of the Mission from our Canadian Alliance churches to bring access to Jesus to those who have little or no access. We have 23 people on our team with members working in the areas of Envision (hosting short term teams from Canada), Justice and Compassion, Church Planting, Leadership Development and International Ministries but in our all our diversity, we have a common heart to give access to Jesus. While Mexico is a reached nation (11% identify as Evangelical Christian), there are people in our nation who still have little or no access to Jesus such as the indigenous Huichol people and people from other nations who now make Mexico their home. Another way in which we are now seeing a shift in our role here as a team is that there are opportunities to move into more of a mobilizing role to partner with the national church to help send out Mexicans to the outermost parts of the world - giving access to Jesus to those with little or no access outside of Mexico. As we move into this new season as a team, we appreciate prayer both in seeing the opportunities here in our country as well as those outside.

One story that has moved us is that recently Aurelio, a Huichol leader who was involved in persecuting believers in the community, gave His life to Jesus shortly before his recent death. Even as he has passed away, his daughters are continuing to proclaim the good news of Jesus to their community! In these difficult days of the pandemic, God is moving and we pray for salvation and abundant life to come in full to this community.

Thank you for continuing to journey with us over these last years from Venezuela and now to Mexico.  With love and gratitude.
Chris, Angela, Mackenzie, Lukas, and Lucía

MY COMMUNITY CARES CAMPAIGN

MY COMMUNITY CARES CAMPAIGN

Food banks tend to see a significant decrease in non-perishable and monetary donations in the spring and summer months. That is why we are launching our new My Community Cares Campaign.

The My Community Cares Campaign is a way for local businesses to help collect food and monetary donations for the Cloverdale Community Kitchen. All you need to do to help is to commit to one week of in-house fundraising at your business. We will give you a campaign kit filled with all that you need to collect donations from your employees and clients.

In the campaign kit you will receive:

A food donation box for non-perishable food donations,
A money collection box for monetary donations,
Envelopes and tax receipt request forms (donations over $20 are eligible for a tax receipt),
Informational materials for those in need or interested in getting further involved, and
#MyCommunityCares posters

If you are interested please email Michele at info@mycck.ca, or call her at 778-617-3000 ext. 206, or sign up using the following SIGN UP LINK

DRIVERS NEEDED

DRIVERS NEEDED

MOBILE MEAL PROGRAM

Are you a compassionate individual, with a vehicle, who has a heart for seniors and the vulnerable in our community? If so, we have a volunteer opportunity for you!

We are looking for more Mobile Meals Drivers who can help deliver hot, nutritious meals to those who need it most throughout Surrey, Langley and White Rock. You are not only providing food, but our Mobile Meals volunteers get a chance to connect and build relationships with these clients which is just as important as the food you are delivering!  Many of these seniors are isolated, and look forward to seeing the volunteers at each delivery.

Whether you would like to help one day a week, or just be on an “on-call” list, please contact LINDSAY'S EMAIL

We deliver Monday-Thursday. Our volunteers arrive at the church between 4:00-4:30pm to pick up the meals and the deliveries usually take 1-1.5 hours.

Thanks for considering this great volunteer opportunity!

MOBILE MEALS CARE TEAM

MOBILE MEALS CARE TEAM

We are putting together a Care Team of volunteers who can perform wellness checks on some of our Mobile Meals clients who have been flagged as needing more care. Many of our clients are seniors who are extremely lonely and vulnerable, and some of our clients are living in less-than-ideal conditions. Therefore, in addition to providing physical nourishment with our meals, we want to be able to provide some form of mental, emotional, and spiritual support.

This role may be as simple as a phone call once a week or may involve an occasional COVID-safe porch/door visit. We might then help connect the client with other resources to address some of their most pressing needs.

The CCK team would provide you with some basic training to help equip you for this role. If this is something you would be interested in being a part of, or you would like more information, please email LINDSAY REMPEL'S EMAIL.
