Daylight Savings Ends

Set your clocks back!

Are you ready for an extra hour of sleep? Before your head hits the pillow tonight (Saturday, Nov 5th), remember to set your clocks BACK 1-hour!

Everyone who shows up an hour early to church on Sunday owes a staff member a coffee. Enough motivation?!  We'll see how many of you read this at least.

Gospel = Life

Gospel = Life

 This fall we have started a new preaching series for our Sunday morning worship services called Gospel = Life. We believe that simple phrase reflects our third value, embodying the gospel, and reminds us each week to live out the good news, to be a living embodiment, a visible sign of the anointed one.

Our teaching will focus on the book of Galatians as we look to the scriptures for teaching about what it means to be the church. The message of Galatians is an exhortation to be that new life in Christ, no matter what may come, and so I believe it is the perfect scripture for us to open our hearts to for such a time as this. These are such turbulent times now and it is in times like this that the truth of the gospel rings out so pure, that Jesus brought new life by believing in him.

The Human Project

We live in an era of polarizing political and religious disagreement. Despite the lip service our society pays to tolerance, it's becoming more and more difficult to look past our differences and to recognize our common humanity. The way that we treat each other is a direct result of how we see one another, and our culture is full of warning signs that we aren't seeing each other correctly.

In The Human Project, Andy Steiger points to Jesus as the basis for rediscovering our common ground and our shared humanity. In Jesus we find not only that humans are unique, valuable, and bearers of rights and responsibilities, but also that our dehumanizing tendencies--our worst inclinations toward inhumanity--can be redeemed and restored. Jesus enables us to be fully human, and it's in him that we rediscover the kind of relationships and society for which so many people today are longing.

The Human Project is a four-part video series, that explores our humanity through the lens of Christianity. Each session begins with a short story designed to encourage discussion on culturally significant questions concerning who and what we are. This time of discussion is followed by a teaching segment that helps us develop a correct view of our humanity in light of who God is, followed by more discussion.

Communion Prep & Servers Needed

Communion Prep & Servers Needed

We are looking for 2 or 3 volunteers willing to prepare the communion emblems on Sunday mornings, before service begins, on a rotating basis. This position requires you to arrive about 30 minutes before the service. Clean-up can be done quickly after service.

We are also looking for about 6-8 additional communion servers (couples or individuals)! We want to consider the move back to serving bread and juice, with the communion packages as a backup for those who would prefer it. However this would mean we require 6 servers each Sunday, rotating monthly, and currently we simply do not have enough!

Please prayerfully consider these opportunities to serve and you can click on the link below for more info.
