On Good Friday, we will be having a traditional Tenebrae Service.  The word Tenebrae means "in the shadows" or "darkness".  For centuries, Christians have worshipped on Good Friday by reading through the Passion narrative.  As each aspect of Christ's suffering is read, a candle is extinguished symbolizing the life of Jesus Christ being snuffed out. There will also be a prayer element to our service where we will be invited to light a candle for someone who we know is suffering and in need of Christ's redemptive suffering on their behalf.   As the Christ candles are being extinguished, other smaller candles will be lit.  (Participating in the candle lighting is encouraged but optional.  No one will be asked to pray out loud.)  The service will be quiet and reflective.  We invite you to enter and leave the sanctuary in silence.

There will be Stations of the Cross set up in the auditorium to visually aid you in prayerful reflection.  You are welcome to come early (9:30 am) to view the stations and pray.

We will not be celebrating Communion until Easter Sunday.

A note to parents:

Children are invited to quietly participate with their parents.  Parents with children are encouraged to brief their children before the service, explaining the purpose of the day and why we remember Good Friday in a somber and reflective mood.

Easter Sunday April 5 will be at our regular time of 10:00am.  We gather together again - to celebrate of the resurrection of Jesus Christ!
