Pacific is inviting youth, young adults, and adults who have a heart to invest in a missional way into the lives of First Nations people to join us on our Summer Mt.Currie Outreach from July 17-20th. Tim Higgenbotham of NAIM (https://www.naim.ca/) will be leading the team. Here is a message from Tim about this year's outreach:

"Following a positive experience last year, PCC has the opportunity to help prepare the Mount Currie youth “Bush Camp” again this summer.  The camp takes place off a grid road about an hour east of Mount Currie, BC.  Travel time to the site from Langley is about 3.5 hours.  This is a partnership between PCC, Crystal Lake Church from Chicago and community members from local First Nations.  PCC will be onsite July 17-20.  The actual camp runs the following week. This brief trip is an excellent opportunity to begin to understand some of the tough history between Native and non-Native peoples, start new friendships and expend energy (work!) to the glory of the Creator God.

The purpose of PCC’s time will be to get the camp ready for campers that follow.  For many local youth, this camp is the highlight of their year.  Prep work involves physical labour during most of the day with the evenings free.  Last year, we spent time prepping the kitchen, teepee/tent sites, staining buildings, etc.   There is a local hot spring we went to last year during one of the evenings.  We finished our time with a hike at the beautiful Joffrey Lakes.  This camp does not have shower facilities so we cleanup in the lovely and refreshing Lillooet River.  This time, PCC and the youth group from Chicago will participate in the “Blanket Exercise” (a great, interactive time to learn about the histories of Native and non-Native relationships in Canada)."
