PCC please read this update from our missional partner, Kurumbuka and the opportunity to pay it forward as they seek to raise $150,000!

This week we kick off our annual Scholarship Surge with an exciting opportunity for you to pay it forward in honour of an inspiring leader who has impacted your life.

Helping Without Hurting by Developing African Leaders

I’ve spent over 40 years living and working in East and Central Africa. The beautiful landscapes, diverse cultures, incredible people, and extraordinary potential in this region inspire me. Unfortunately, scarcity leadership has often caused grinding poverty, cyclical violence, and ethnic divisions that hurt innocent people.

If you are like me, you care about marginalized communities in African countries but struggle to know how to help. Well-intentioned help from outside too frequently creates dependency and robs local people of dignity and agency.

You have probably personally experienced the massive difference that a great leader (or a toxic leader) can make in your workplace, your church, or your community. Leaders can make or break a community.

What if we could help more African leaders bring Christ-centered transformation to their communities?

We are passionate about investing in local Christian leaders who can think abundantly and create lasting solutions for their communities. Every year, our certified Abundant Leadership Institute (ALI) develops and empowers 50+ leaders from 9 African countries. We select visionary leaders, who have a strong faith, care deeply about people, and are committed for the long-term. Once these leaders are equipped through ALI, they train more than 1,000 other leaders in their communities.

Leaders like Dr. Doreen from Cambridge Health in Uganda, who, after learning about Asset-Based Community Development, served communities in rural Uganda through clinics and training sessions. Dr. Doreen has delivered essential medical care and trained over 500 families, resulting in these families beginning to climb out of poverty and send their kids to school.

Leaders like Ibrahim
, who, after learning about Servant Leadership, Strategic Planning, and Team Building, was equipped to realize his dream of teaching teachers, parents, and schools across Rwanda. Through his organization, hundreds of communities receive quality education and develop socio-economically.

Every leader pays something to attend ALI but many need one-time scholarships because their local income is so low. Scholarships help provide them with a year of Christ-centred training, tools, and a network so they can invest well in the people they serve.

An average scholarship for a leader is $1,500. This year, our goal is to raise $150,000 for scholarships for more leaders like Dr. Doreen and Ibrahim. Would you consider helping us reach our goal?

We've inviting you to make a donation in honour of a leader who has positively impacted your life. We'll send you both personal updates from African leaders during the program so you can see the impact being made in marginalized communities.
