You likely have heard that on June 24, 2026 near Caracas, Venezuela, two earthquakes, with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5, struck 39 seconds apart at 6:04 p.m. In total, 189 buildings collapsed, many of them filled with occupants. The friends we have written about and that you have prayed for in the past are okay but they are not unaffected. Many friends and family of those we know remain missing.
There is good news to share though: the Canadian government this week has committed to matching funds of all donations raised for relief for a limited time. More on that in a second…
Pray for those who have lost family and friends. Pray for the provision and protection of the many thousands left homeless, including newly orphaned children. Pray for FundAlfa in their assessment and distribution through our Venezuelan Alliance church. Pray that many would experience Christ's love and come to know Him in a very real way as their Rescuer, Saviour, Provider, and Protector.
Pray for our Venezuelan Alliance family as they seek to be Christ's hands and feet—His voice answering the cries of so many. The Alliance church in Venezuela is economically poor with few resources. However, they have organized over the years and created a relief and development agency, FundAlfa, for times like this. The Alliance Canada has partnered with them previously in both resourcing and training. Donations received will go a long way toward purchasing the supplies needed as we partner with the Venezuelan Alliance Church.
The Canadian Foodgrains Bank is raising funds as part of the Humanitarian Coalition in a joint appeal to supporting emergency assistance relief efforts in Venezuela. Between June 25 - July 14, Global Affairs Canada has agreed to match all individual donations made by Canadians, dollar for dollar up to $2 million.
The Alliance Canada, through its membership in the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, participates in the Humanitarian Coalition joint appeal for the Venezuela earthquake. Donations received from individual donors will help in reaching the Government of Canada match and our collective emergency response.
Thank you for joining us in prayer and partnership with the church in Venezuela.
