Hi, I’m Matthew Popowitz. 19 years ago my wife Shelley and I (married for 27 years and counting) embarked on a daunting adventure to find a new neighbourhood and church where we could raise our growing family (we now have two daughters, ages 19 & 16). After lots of prayer, and endless house hunting we discovered and fell in love with Cloverdale; however the choice of church was not as easy.
We attended many of the amazing local churches all the while attempting to discern where God was leading us. When we finally found PCC (literally at the end of a road) in the summer of 2005, we were soon welcomed into a small group, and knew we had been lead to our new church home.
I believe very strongly in “bloom where you are planted” and have enjoyed putting down roots at PCC. I have been a part of the music worship ministry since 2006 and our Children’s ministry, teaching Sunday School since 2007.
Many times throughout my life, I have experienced how our Creator God puts us in places where we can use our gifts – whether in playing or coaching hockey or lacrosse, or as Summer Camp counsellor at Anvil Island, witnessing to teenagers, or in my business career – my prayer is to be part of the “god given salt” in our world.
It is a great honour to be considered for the Board of Elders and look forward to continuing serving my church family.
