Annual General Meeting

Our Annual General Meeting takes place on Tuesday, November 30 at 6:30 PM. Everyone is invited (and encouraged) to attend this important meeting. Please see our financial summary and agenda here.
Hot apple cider will be served at 6:30 and we will have a time of fellowship together, followed by our meeting starting at 7 PM. During the meeting we will be voting in new elders - Dave Ashton is up for re-election and 3 additional candidates have let their names stand to serve on our Board. Our Bylaws state that we can have up to 9 elders so during the election, all 4 names can be voted for. You must be a member to vote. Our meeting will take place on site as well as via Church Online. Below you will find the bios of the 3 new candidates.
The Board would like to thank Diane Felgate and Zipporah Hantke for their years of service on the Board. Diane will be completing her final term and Zipporah will be stepping down. Thank you both for your dedication to the Board and to this church.

I am married to John, and we have 2 kids, Seth (17) and Elia (14). We have been members at PCC for almost 10 years. We own an excavation business, where I work part time in the office. My hope is to return to school next Spring to continue my education, in the Psychology and/or Biblical Studies space. I am just finishing up my second term on the school board at Langley Christian School, where both of our kids go to school.
I have loved serving there and look forward to see all that God will continue to do there in the coming years. I am excited to join the church board as I am passionate about the local church and community. The opportunity to grow our relationship with Jesus and become more like Him, really happens in the midst of community.
I’ve been attending PCC with my husband, Markus, for 13 years. We have two girls: Claire, 12, and Bailey, 10. Our family enjoys hiking and playing games together. I grew up in Surrey and had godly parents who taught me about Christ at a young age. I chose to follow Him at Camp Kawkawa when I was nine and was baptized at aged 12. I have felt closest to God when facing life’s big decisions, particularly those involving marriage and career. I met Markus at the young adult’s group at Peace Portal Alliance and we married the following year. Before the girls came along I worked as a newspaper reporter and still do some writing on a freelance basis.
I’m involved in PCC children’s ministry and have been board secretary (non-voting) since 2018. Recently my small group’s readings and discussions have challenged me to appreciate the rich complexity of God’s word, particularly the Gospels. I sense that God wants to do something new at PCC and am excited to find out what that could be.
I originally hail from Sri Lanka, where I was born and lived for 10 years, during the country’s civil war. I spent the next decade in the Middle East; Abu Dhabi (for 6 years) and Oman (4 years), after which I moved to Canada in 2010 to study Psychology at UBC. My mother converted to Christianity from Buddhism as a young adult, after moving from Sri Lanka to Washington State (where she gave her life to Christ at a Young Life conference) and then England where she lived for over a decade. My father grew up in Sri Lanka where he was part of a fundamentalist church which we all attended while living in Sri Lanka.
Church in the following years included an assortment of denominations and approaches to worshipping God. This variety in cultural and religious/church context has ensured that I am quite familiar with being new, thrive on meaningful conversations and am intrigued by the complex richness of community in its various forms. For many of my younger years, I struggled with knowing how to “act Christian” without truly walking with Jesus. God used this to cultivate in me a deep desire for authenticity – both in my relationships and in my walk with Christ. I look forward to seeing how God continues to use PCC to form an authentic, warm, grace-filled and Christ-centred community.
My husband Tristan and I have been married since 2014 and we have two sons: Micah and Samuel. We are grateful to be growing and learning, while doing life with the PCC community, and we are excited to see how God shapes our community in the years to come!
